Internet: The Top 5 Thing Search Engine Look For In A Website

By: Ryan Blake Search Engine's like Google and Yahoo have been around for a while and in this day and age, pretty much everyone who has the Internet uses them. So the question that gets thrown around all the time goes something like this "what makes the search engines tick and if I had a website how would I rank well?" So let me try and answer that question for you. There are 5 main things that pretty much every search engine look for in your website and they are split into 2 categories, namely onpage and offpage optimization. The onpage parts are namely general layout and keyword density and hidden things like meta tags and header texts and we mustn't forget about creating your sitemap. The offpage things include, who links to your website and mainly who you link to and of course the anchor text used. So lets get started I'd say from my experience that making sure that the onpage optimization is relatively important and could give your website a good boost if done correctly. They include making sure your page header is relative to your required search terms and ensuring that your meta description also has relevance. Those two can have a huge effect on your rankings. The one other thing that can get your website indexed completely quickly is creating your sitemap. There are many places you can go to have a sitemap created for free so that is an easy thing to do. Now let head onto the offpage optimization, this is the part that really matters and counts a lot. Offpage optimization is really all about links. Links from your website to others and link from other to your website. Links from other websites don't have any negative effect on your rankings but on the other hand if you link back then the search engines will penalize you if you link to a banned website. So link management has to be strict and up to date and you have to check who you're linking to before you do so. The key things to note when linking to a specific website is that when you give them the anchor text they are going to add to your link that you ensure that you include your required keywords you want the search engines to find. For the search engines use that to determine what keywords are important to your website. Link management takes time and it doesn't happen over night so you just need to be patient and soon enough you'll see results. Article Source: http://www.articlesnet.co.uk
